When his casting was first announced, Marvel tried keeping the identity of Daniel Bruhl’s character in Captain America: Civil War secret. But in an interview this weekend, Bruhl casually confirmed that he’s playing the villainous Baron Zemo in the upcoming superhero sequel.

His off-the-cuff confirmation is genuinely hilarious after watching so many other actors jump through hoops to avoid saying anything:

I think I can tell you that without being thrown into Marvel prison. For the first few days I’ll walk around like a little boy, just amazed by the megalomania of it. It’s such a huge project. We could do 20 films with the budget.

Baron Heinrich Zemo is one of Captain America’s primary antagonists in the comic books; a Nazi scientist fond of creating death rays that would be used to destroy the world. He wears a purple cowl, which was permanently stuck to his face after Captain America raided his laboratory, resulting in an explosion of “Adhesive X”. So, how will a character from the 1940s terrorize Captain America, Iron Man and Spider-Man? He won’t.

Bruhl confirmed that he’s actually playing Baron Helmut Zemo, the son of Heinrich who was working as an engineer in Germany when he became enraged by the news that Captain America had returned.

We have no idea how a villain as major as Baron Zemo will fit into a movie that already features Captain America, Iron Man, Black Widow, Scarlet Witch, Falcon, Hawkeye and the Winter Soldier, but Bruhl is one of those actors who deserves to be in anything. And, he soon may be, as his character is also signed for future Marvel movies as well.

The interesting thing to note is that Zemo doesn’t even appear to be the main villain of the film. Recent reports have suggested that it’s actually the returning Brock Rumlow, aka Crossbones, who will be the main antagonist of the film. Frank Grillo seems to be very, very excited about returning as Crossbones. And yes, all evidence suggests that he’s going to get a proper costume this time around.
